Bentley named Art Director for Sky Warrior Books

A new publishing house imprint is being created by Author M.H. (Maggie) Bonham, named Sky Warrior Book Publishing. Bentley was contacted by Bonham because of several covers done for her book, previously published by Yard Dog Press. Those covers have now been licensed for e-published editions by Bonham. This led to successful negotiations to continue work with her new publishing company. After several covers and layouts for Sky Warrior, Bentley was officially named Art Director.

The 2011 season was the last round of video work for SKS

Bentley has given official notice to SKS Video Productions that 2011 is the last year he can work as cameraman for them. Due to upcoming projects, we need to devote our time and resources to AFS and publishing instead. We will still be doing DVD cover work for SKS and wish them continued success in the R/C video industry.

2007 Nicaragua Trip for IAAA Conference & Show

Casa de los Tres Mundos entryThe International Association of Astronomical Artists held their annual conference and workshop in Granada, Nicaragua. The conference and art show ran from Feb. 15-22, 2007, and was held at the Casa de los Tres Mundos.

The Casa is host to conferences from around the world and is a cultural foundation that houses a Theater School, Art Studio and Music Academy and manages a library and research center.

IAAA held several presentations, an art workshop and made several day trips to various locations around the country. A primary reason for their workshops is to participate in the practice of plien air painting in locations that resemble geological topographies found on other solar system bodies. To this end, Nicaragua proved perfect with its multiple volcanos, bubbling geyser pits and grand canyon or gorge. Other cultural sights were also pursued, from museums to churches, markets, and of course a wide variety of cuisine.

Bentley also sold a piece, Home and Hearth (#3 of 10 - the only sale of the show) to Carlos Lola, who came by the show on Sunday. They are pictured here in front of Bettina Forget's work.

Bentley is no longer a member of IAAA as of April, 2009.

2006 Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts Show

In December of 2006 Bentley had a one man show entitled "Digital Space" at the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, in York, PA. The show ran through the month of December and consisted of 28 pieces, several of them newer works created since his thesis show.

The show was a result of their coordinator, Sandra Roberts, visiting Bentley's Masters Thesis Show at Penn State. The facility is a gallery style atmosphere situated in their central waiting area, with gallery lighting and hanging. A centrally located wide screen Plasma display ran an ongoing slide show of Bentley's work and his music accompaniment. The photo is outside looking in. Click on the picture to see A slide show of the installation.

Bentley Masters Production & Presentation

Bentley's Masters Production show for his final thesis project began November 15th, 2005 and ran through February 3rd, 2006. The PSH listing is no longer available.

The show opening and Gallery Talk was held December 7th at 5:00 p.m. in the Gallery Lounge (Olmsted Building) at Penn State Harrisburg, 777 West Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, PA., and a second lecture was held January 19th, 2006. This overlapped two semesters, which was not only unusual but it also enabled the professors at Penn State to include the show as a part of their curriculum.

Additionally, Bentley sold two large pieces as a result of the show.

Bentley received his MA in Humanities from Pennsylvania State University in May of 2006.
